MFT Color Challenge #140

Yay!! It is Friday. And almost National Scrapbook Day. I have been working really hard to fill orders from my ETSY store so I can play all day and make scrapbook layouts this weekend. I decided to take a break and make a card for a challenge. Today's card is for the My Favorite Things color challenge. MFT Color Challenge #140

This week the focus was to use the colors Sno Cone, Smooth White, Blu Raspberry, and Orange Zest. When I saw the new challenge, I thought of tropical flowers. This one I had to buy earlier this week since I didn't have it. Or another kind of layering flowers.

Once again I worked backwards to get the card I visioned. I cut the Blu Raspberry card stock to make my base note card (4.25 by 5.5). I then inked up All Lined Up background stamp with Orange Zest dye ink on smooth white card stock. I cut the background to 3.25 x 5.5 and adhered it with 3M foam tape. This is becoming one of my favorite types of adhesive.

I stamped out "Hey There" from the stamp set Heaps of Hello in black ink on Sno Cone card stock. I cut this strip down to 1.5 x 5.5 inches. I adhered the trip with double sided tape. I then stamped out my flowers  and leaves from Tropical Flowers and used the coordinating dies to cut them out. I adhered the flowers with foam squares.

Spectacular Sky Challenge

Lawn Fawn is a new company I have discovered that has card challenges. I have seen they have sketch challenges, theme challenges, color challenges. This week, I decided to try a hand at the spectacular sky challenge theme.

For this challenge, I have seen rainbow cloud backgrounds. And I wanted to give it a try. I pulled Gina K dye inks (all I have on hand). Picked up my cloud stencil (again all I had on hand). And created a rainbow cloud background for my sky. I cut it down using a rectangle die to fit on a 4.25 x 5.5 notecard. And stamped the greeting "Happy Birthday" from the stamp set "Happy Happy Happy" from Lawn Fawn. I thought this card use some sparkle so I sprayed with my Sheer Shimmer Sparkle spray. I must say this gave my card some interest. I adhered this panel with 3M foam Scotch Tape.

This was a lot of fun. I know I kept it simple. But I have always been mesmerized by the look of the clouds in different colors during sunset and sunrises. And to me that is breath taking.

I was going to submit the card with just the rainbow cloud and greeting. But I felt it needed something. Especially since it didn't have any red or pink in my card. So I stamped out an image from "Really High Five" stamp set along with the balloon. Added it to the panel. And it really added to the card. The bear looks like he is floating in the sky.

Stay Crafty with Hero Challenge #4

Today seems to be the day for card challenges. One of my other favorite companies have been promoting a series of card challenges. It's called Stay Craft with Hero. It's a series to get card makers to craft at home since we've been on lockdown due to the Coronavirus pandemic,

I personally have not participated in them. Until now. The 4th challenge. It's a challenge to create a card about self care. Self care can mean anything. But I chose to utilize the Blossoms for Coloring Bold Prints background stamp. It's meant to use for coloring. But I chose to use the heat emboss technique. I decided to use Clear Embossing powder to give it a tone on tone look. I then used a greeting from the Peonies stamp set.

This card can be sent to anyone. I believe it can be sent as a thank you, a card sent to a friend, or any other occasion. That is why I chose to leave the inside of this card blank. When I get ready to send it, I can stamp the appropriate greeting.

Do you leave the inside of your card blank until you get ready to send it?

One of the many things I love about My Favorite Things are their various card challenges. They offer sketch challenges, color challenge, and a birthday project challenge. And they will also have special challenges throughout the year. For example, when the Winter Olympics was playing, My Favorite Things released a series of challenges for a week. There was mixing up techniques, make a clean and simple card, and several challenges.

The challenge I worked on today was a color challenge. My Favorite Things had a challenge for 2 weeks using 4 colors into the project. To be honest, I always freeze up with color challenges. The colors I had to incorporate were: Gravel Gray, Cement Gray, Blue Yonder, and Tangy Orange.

My approach to this card was different a bit different. I found a stencil in my stash I have not used. It was Sunrise Radiating Rays Stencil. I immediately used Tangy Orange ink with the stencil. As soon as I layered this onto a dark gray notecard, I knew I had to turn this into a boy card. Mainly because I don't have very many boy cards on hand to send out to my son's friends. I pulled the stamp set "Super Boy" and colored the image in with Copic markers. The markers I used were B34, YR09, E21, E23, and C5. The stamp I used is currently retired.

One of the other things I normally don't do is stamp a greeting on the inside of the card. But I did stamp "Happy Birthday" and stamped the star and lightening bolt on the card stock.

Flower Theme Birthday Project

My Favorite Things stamps had a Birthday Project challenge. These challenge was posted on March 19th and today April 15th is deadline. This challenge was to incorporate a flower into my card. I went through my stash and incorporated Fantasy Floral stamp into my project. And for the greeting from Essential Greeting stamp set.
Recently I have discovered I love to make CAS cards. AKA Clean and simple.  My favorite technique. So with these cards I chose to do a simple heat emboss technique. Pulling grey card stock and black card stock. I pulled the MISTI stamping tool to create these cards.
After I completed my cards, I could not decide which card to enter for this challenge. So, I polled Facebook and it was still divided. I looked to see if there was a rule on the number of cards I can enter. And there was not. So I have decided to enter both cards into the challenge. Which one do you like best?
Oh today is also Wednesday Blitz day with My Favorite Things. A day they put a select products on sale. And I picked up a few things today.
